Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra Final Summer Concert Saturday
The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra consists of professional musicians from around the greater Atlanta metro area.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra will perform on the season finale of the City of Johns Creek’s Summer Concert Series on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater in Newtown Park, 3150 Old Alabama Road in Johns Creek. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. The concert will be performed rain or shine.
This concert is presented by the City of Johns Creek.
For the final concert, the food trucks Pay it Forkward, Meatballerz, and King of Pops with their sweet frozen treats will be on site. Cold beer and wine will be available for purchase. For those looking for a little more room, you can purchase round tables, for up to eight people, under the amphitheater by calling 678-512-3200. Reserve one soon.

No outside alcohol, pets (service animals are allowed), or tents are allowed at the event.
The concert will be conducted by JCSO Founder and Music Director, J. Wayne Baughman, with guest conductor Timothy Aucoin. Repertoire for the performance will include light classical and Pops favorites.

JCSO Music Director and Conductor J. Wayne Baughman studied choral and orchestral conducting, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education from the University of Alabama, as well as advanced studies in conducting at the University of Michigan.
Upon his arrival in Atlanta in 1974, Baughman immediately became involved with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Choruses, and for 25 years he was a frequent vocal soloist, chorus member, and rehearsal conductor under the guidance of the late Robert Shaw. Well known for his oratorio performances as bass soloist, he collaborated with Shaw on numerous performance projects, including the Mozart Requiem Mass, J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion, and Handel’s Messiah. In 1990, as bass soloist, Baughman shared the honor of a Grammy Award for the Telarc recording of Belshazzar’s Feast (Walton) and Chichester Psalms (Bernstein) with Shaw and the ASO.
Baughman has held numerous academic and church music conducting positions in a career spanning more than 50 years. In addition to his work with the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra he serves as Vice-President of the Cultural Arts Alliance at Johns Creek and chairs the Johns Creek Legacy Center Task Force.
Now in its 13th season, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra is metro Atlanta’s only fully-professional, part-time symphonic orchestra, made up of professional musicians from all over the greater metro Atlanta area. The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Founder and Music Director J. Wayne Baughman, provides musical enrichment for the community of Johns Creek through a three-concert series of performances, as well as additional educational programs and special events each year.
