Johns Creek Wants To Decrease 2018 Millage Rate
The city has scheduled three public hearings to allow its residents to weigh in on the proposal.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — In an effort to offset property tax reassessment increases, the Johns Creek City Council has proposed to rollback the city's millage rate to no higher than 3.870 mills. This proposal, the city notes, is a .49 decrease from the rate it adopted in 2017 of 4.360.
Based on the anticipated rate of collection of 97 percent, the total receipts from a 3.870 millage rate would be $16.4 million, which is slightly lower than the city’s adopted budget for the current year property tax revenue of $16.7 million.
Before the city can set its final millage rate for 2018, state law mandates it holds a public hearing to allow residents to express their opinions on the proposal. Council members at their July 9 meeting decided to schedule three public hearings to give residents multiple opportunities to weigh in on the millage rate.
