Liz Hausmann Named To State Transit Funding Commission
Fulton County District 1 Commissioner Liz Hausmann and other members will study possible transportation alternatives for the state.

JOHNS CREEK GA -- Fulton County District 1 Commissioner Liz Hausmann has been tapped to serve on the House Commission on Transit Governance & Funding.
Hausmann, who was appointed by Georgia House Speaker David Ralston, will join other members who will study the state's transit needs and analyze ways for Georgia to plan and provide for those needs.
“It is imperative that the state of Georgia look at transit as a viable option for congestion relief," Hausmann stated. "A well-managed transportation system will spur job growth and prosperity, and continue to keep Georgia as the leading state in which to do business. I look forward to serving on this commission to explore transportation alternatives for all of Georgia.”

Hausmann has focused on transportation and transit initiatives as a priority for Fulton County, and was recently named to the Transportation Steering Committee for the National Association of Counties. She played a leadership role in organizing a site-visit by Fulton County commissioners, mayors and transportation leaders in January to study the transit system of Plano, Texas.
Fulton County is one of the original MARTA counties, and has supported Georgia’s largest transit agency since it was formed. The county is collaborating with its cities and the Atlanta Regional Commission on a transit study to be completed later this year.

“Transit is becoming more and more important to Georgia’s future," Ralston added. "From congestion relief to economic development, a robust transit network across our state will have long-term benefits for our citizens. Situations like the recent I-85 rebuild have clearly demonstrated the importance of transit to our state and its economy. The House is proud to lead on this initiative to develop actionable, meaningful solutions.”
