Man Passes Out, Arrested for Heroin Use

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

On July 28 a Johns Creek Police officer was dispatched to a residence on Spirit Falls Way following a report of an unconscious man.

When the officer arrived he found the front door ajar and a man in his mid-30s to early 40s lying on a sofa unconscious but breathing, with a woman sitting with him who was upset.

The officer noted a small bag with white powder and a dirty spoon with burn marks sitting on the table next to the man. On the floor nearby was a syringe and a band.

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after the officer and began treating the man.

The woman told police that the man was a friend of her boyfriend's and that she didn't know his last name. She said that the man had previous issues with meth and prescription abuse, and that she had been asked to check on him at his grandmother's vacant house.

Paramedics administered Narcodan to the man and he quickly woke up. The man, a Stone Mountain resident, told police that he had met up with the woman that morning and that the two of them came to the house together to use heroin and to hang out. He said he had purchased the heroin for the two of them to use together.

The woman then admitted to police that she had planned the meeting, but had not used any heroin. She said she went upstairs and when she came back down he had passed out and she couldn't tell if he was breathing, so she called 911.

The police officer stated in the report that the woman did not appear to be under the influence of drugs nor alcohol.

The man was treated at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, released to the officer's custody and then arrested for felony possession of heroin and transported to the Alpharetta jail.
