McGinnis Ferry Road Widening: Open House Planned For Jan. 10
Plans call for widening the thoroughfare between Sargent Road in Johns Creek to Union Hill Road in Forsyth County.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA -- Johns Creek residents are invited to attend an open house that will go over a proposed project to widen McGinnis Ferry Road.
The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College, which is at 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Cumming.
Plans call for widening McGinnis Ferry Road between Sargent Road in Johns Creek to Union Hill Road/Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Forsyth County, which totals about 4.5 miles.

The open house will be informal, and the public is invited to attend anytime during these hours. The proposed design plans will be on display for citizens to view.
Those plans also call for two lanes in each direction with a 20-foot wide raised median, a 16-foot wide urban shoulder along the north side of McGinnis Ferry Road with a 10-foot wide multi-use path and a 12-foot wide urban shoulder along the south side of the road, with a 5-foot wide sidewalk.

Stage construction and traffic control devices will be utilized to maintain traffic during construction and may require temporary lane closures. Forsyth County is overseeing the design of the widening project with the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The cities of Johns Creek and the Alpharetta are providing review and comments. The Forsyth County Transportation Bond, which was approved by voters in 2014, is providing $18.1 million for this project; GDOT has committed $10 million.

The displays used at the public information open house and the meeting transcript will be available for review until Jan. 20, 2017 at the Forsyth County Engineering Department located in the County Administration Building at 110 E. Main Street Suite 120 in Cumming.
