Like you, at the Primrose School of Johns Creek Northwest, we continue to closely follow the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We monitor the situation daily and are following directions set forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health authorities to prevent the spread of illness.

We want to reassure you of the measures we have in place and designed to prevent the spread of infection.

  • A staff member will greet children outside as they arrive. We limit direct contact between parents and staff members and adhere to social distancing recommendations.
  • All children are walked to their classroom, and at the end of the day, walked to parent.
  • Hand hygiene stations are set up at the entrance of the facility, so that everyone can clean their hands before they enter.
  • All classrooms are disinfected daily with a solution adhering to state guidelines for disinfection so that it kills germs.
  • Noses are wiped with a clean tissue and it is immediately disposed of, washing hands thoroughly with warm water and soap each time.
  • Hand-washing is routine and happens even more often to prevent spreading germs.
  • Teachers monitor children who appear ill or lethargic or who do not eat normally and report the information to management immediately. If a child has a temperature of 100 degrees or above the parent is notified and asked to pick his/her child up as soon as possible.

During this outbreak we have increased our sensitivity to these safety precautions to protect children in our care as well as staff.

You can continue to help support safety measures by keeping sick children at home and notifying us of any contagious illnesses with your child, or if another family member has been exposed to or diagnosed with the Coronavirus.

There are everyday actions you can take to stay healthy, including:
• Cover the nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Throw the tissue in the trash immediately after being used.
• Wash hands more often with soap and warm water, especially after coughing or sneezing.
• Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
• Avoid close contact with sick people. If you or your child is sick, the CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from spreading an infection.
For additional information, contact the Centers for Disease Control at 1-800-CDC-INFO, or online at http://www.cdc.gov.
