More Improvements Coming to Jones Bridge Road

Construction on two more major sections of Jones Bridge Road in Johns Creek is set to start in late October.

The first section is a 7,500-foot-long stretch between Abbotts Bridge and State Bridge roads, where crews will widen the road from two to four lanes with a center median, add an eight-foot-wide trail on one side of the road and a five-foot-wide sidewalk on the other and install a new traffic signal at the entrance of the North Bridge shopping center. Work will start in late October or early November and be finished by mid-2015.

The second section is a 1,600-foot length between Waters and Old Alabama roads. Crews will widen Jones Bridge Road from two to four lanes. Construction will commence in October and should be finished by the end of the year, weather permitting.

“Jones Bridge is one of our more heavily traveled roads and we wanted to give it serious attention,” said Public Works Director Tom Black. “These overall road improvements will result in a much smoother commute, and the sidewalks and trails will make walking and running much safer and more enjoyable.”

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, although no lane closures will occur during rush hours. Some nighttime paving is planned to minimize traffic delays during daytime hours.

Portable electronic signs will be placed a week before the nighttime paving occurs.
