Police Identify Motorcyclist Killed in Johns Creek Accident

The fatal crash took place early Wednesday morning on Jones Bridge Road at Douglas Road.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- A motorcycle operator died just before daybreak Wednesday in an accident in Johns Creek.

Johns Creek police received the call of the crash involving a motorcycle and another passenger vehicle around 6:40 a.m. April 13 on Jones Bridge Road at Douglas Road.

Major John Clifton with the Johns Creek Police Department said the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Jones Bridge Road while the vehicle was traveling southbound. Clifton said a preliminary investigation shows the crash occurred when the motorcycle tried to turn left onto Douglas Road and was struck by the oncoming vehicle.

The motorcycle operator, Johns Creek resident David Kan, 49, was pronounced dead. Clifton noted the police department's accident reconstruction specialists are still working to determine how the accident unfolded.

"It's a tragedy," Clifton said, adding this was the city's first fatal crash in roughly two years.
