New Fulton Chairman, Commissioner Sworn Into Office

ATLANTA, GA -- The Wednesday, Dec. 20 meeting of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners meeting was the first one with incoming Commission Chairman Robb Pitts and new District 4 Commissioner Natalie Hall assuming their new legislative roles.

On Friday, Dec. 15, the Honorable Judge Pinkie Toomer conducted the swearing-in ceremonies for both newly elected Fulton County commissioners. Each elected official took the oath to serve the county's residents as family members and friends watched in support.

Chairman Pitts and Commissioner Hall will complete the terms of the commissioners preceding them. Pitts fills the vacant seat of former Fulton County Chairman John Eaves, who left the post to run for mayor of the city of Atlanta. Commissioner Hall, a former chief of staff for Fulton County Vice-Chair Joan Garner, was elected to replace the late commissioner who passed away after her battle with cancer.

Pitts was first elected to the Fulton County Commission in November 2002 and served until December 2014. During that tenure, he advocated for diversification in revenue sources to relieve the tax burden on property owners. Pitts previously served as a member of the Atlanta City Council for two decades, chairing the Finance and Community Development Committees for most of those years. He was elected to serve as the Council’s President from 1997 to 2001.

A businessman and former college professor, Pitts earned undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degrees in education, business, languages and Latin American Studies at Ohio University, La Academia Hispanoamericana, Kent State University and La Universidad Interamericana. He has a master’s degree in business administration from Emory University and is a former member of the Atlanta Board of Realtors. A registered broker with Mass Mutual Perimeter, he is also the owner and president of R.L.P. Corporation, an international business consulting firm.

Hall brings to the position more than 25 years of management experience in both the public and private sectors. An honors graduate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, she earned her masters’ degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management in Atlanta. She received Executive Management Certification via Caliber Learning Center from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. In September 2017, Commissioner-Elect Hall received the Certified Public Manager (CPM) certification from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government of the University of Georgia.
