Dr. Rose also met with the school board to set some interim goals before he officially begins his position.

“I am incredibly excited and encouraged by our work this week,” he said of the visit, which took place April 18-21. "I sense a positive synergy with the Fulton school board that shows me that we are focused on the same things. During my first few months in Fulton, I will continue working with the board, our school leaders and the community to assess what’s working well and aligned to our strategic plan and what can be improved to inform our next steps in support Fulton’s innovative charter system processes.”

Linda McCain, school board president, agreed.

“The Board and Dr. Rose had a very productive meeting which focused on developing our collaboration principles and mutual understanding of communication protocols," she added.

Dr. Rose will officially join Fulton County Schools in June, but visited the school system last week to begin familiarizing himself with the 80-mile long county with 101 schools. His current superintendent’s position is in Oregon’s third largest school system, Beaverton School District, which is located near Portland.
