Nightly Closures Planned For Barnwell Road (UPDATED)
The closures will help Fulton County accelerate its project to construct a reuse irrigation main line until the end of the year.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Beginning next week, motorists are advised that they will have to limit the use of Barnwell Road while Fulton County continues on a project to construct a reuse irrigation main line.
That's according to the city of Johns Creek, which said the county will both increase working hours and close the road to through traffic each night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and reduce the road to one lane between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m..
This will go into effect beginning Monday, Nov. 27 and will continue until the work is complete, the city added.

"They need to also work during the day in order to avoid colder temperatures at night for the concrete pours," city spokesperson Jeff Breslau said. "We also wanted to ensure that they avoid peak rush hour, including school drop off and pick up times, during the day."
Barnwell Road will remain accessible to residents who live in subdivisions and homes along the thoroughfare. With limited room available to perform construction work, periodic lane closures along this road are required to install the pipe and conduit, which will create significant congestion.

Motorists are also advised that, for added safety, Barnwell Road has a temporary speed limit reduction to 35 mph in the construction zone through the end of the project.
The new reuse line, which is being installed in several locations throughout Johns Creek, will be used for irrigation for churches, golf courses and Cauley Creek park.
