Northview Freshman Uses Spring Break To Help Other Students
Meena M. Chetty served as a tutor to help students in grades second through sixth prepare for the Georgia Milestones exams.
A Northview High School student used her Spring Break to help her younger counterparts prepare for a statewide testing initiative.
Ninth-grade student Meena M. Chetty teamed up with Shooting Stars Foundation, a California-based nonprofit organization that offers tutoring services to children, to conduct a week-long academic boot camp for local students.
The tutoring session, which also included Meena and other Northview freshmen serving as tutors, was held to help students in grades second through sixth prepare for the Georgia Milestones exams.

The Shooting Stars Foundation conducts academic boot camps for students across the country. All proceeds made from the camps are sent to sponsor education and give grants to kids in need internationally. Last year the organization provided grants to kids in Mexico and India.
Sundari M. Chetty, Meena’s mother, said a wide variety of students took advantage of the offer in Johns Creek, which was held at Peace & Piece on Abbotts Bridge Road April 5-9.

She also said parents had “excellent” feedback regarding the performance of the staff, the professionalism and the environment of the venue.
“We hope to be able to bring our community more great opportunities such as this especially based on the numerous requests from parents to host more camps and the enthusiasm of our high schoolers to conduct more camps,” Chetty stated.
