Northview Student Appointed To U.S. Naval Academy

From Student Leadership Johns Creek: Student Leadership Johns Creek Class of 2018 member Vidya Gopalakrishna, a senior at Northview High School recently received a prestigious appointment to the United States Naval Academy. The appointment was made on November 8th by Congresswoman Karen Handel. Vidya competed with many students from across Georgia for this highly coveted appointment. Student Leadership Johns Creek is a highly selective platform comprised of students who competitively apply and are carefully chosen to represent their individual high schools in this two-year leadership development program.

The first-year students are tasked with providing leadership training to younger students in Fulton County. Vidya was one of the team leaders and worked with a group of younger students assisting them with leadership opportunities by facilitating classes and hands-on activities that her group developed including encouraging his younger peers to foster and practice their communication skills. In the second year, our student leaders are required to shadow a business professional in an area they are interested in. Vidya is
interested in corporate law and will be shadowing a local attorney. Student Leadership Johns Creek works in collaboration with AT&T to mentor senior citizens in the use of their mobile devices during the spring. Vidya was one of the students chosen to lead this event and was instrumental in helping making it the seniors in Johns Creek found quite rewarding. We are so proud of Vidya and wish her the best of luck on her impending military career.Student Leadership Johns Creek, is a competitive program that has been a highly- valued part of the community for over 6 years. Students come from Centennial High, Chattahoochee High, Johns Creek High and Northview High.
