Johns Creek Resident Named Outstanding Toastmaster of the Year

Michelle Hanchey received the award at a ceremony May 1 at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel.

Johns Creek resident Michelle Hanchey is the recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Toastmaster of the Year Award for 2014-2015 from Toastmasters District 44 where there are over 4,000 members in 198 clubs located to the west of I-85 in Georgia.

“The award is presented annually at the District 44 Spring Conference to a member who best exemplifies Toastmaster International values in supporting the District mission to build new clubs and support all clubs in achieving excellence. In addition, we look for the member who excels in a variety of leadership, communication. educational and marketing activities,” notes District 44 Governor Parren Shannon.

Hanchey received the award at a special awards ceremony before more than 325 fellow Toastmasters held Friday, May 1, at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel.

This award recognizes Michelle’s exceptional leadership and devoted service to Toastmasters. Some of her many accomplishments include completing six (6) educational manuals to become a High Achiever in education, one of seventeen to do so this Toastmaster year. In addition, she promoted the District by conducting Leadership modules outside of Toastmasters.

Active as the District Extension Chair, Michelle used her experience in opening four new Toastmaster clubs to help train 46 Area Governors to do the same. In addition, having been a District conference co-chair Michelle mentored both the Fall and Spring chairs. Michelle has sponsored 35 new members into Toastmasters.

“This award is indicative of the enthusiasm and vitality she brings to every project,” says Shannon. “Michelle is an excellent speaker who is able to communicate clearly in group meetings both large and small. She is a leader who exemplifies integrity, respect, service and excellence in everything she does,” continued Shannon in praise of Michelle who is a member of the Atlanta MasterCrafters Toastmasters club in Johns Creek.

“It is truly an honor to be presented with the 2014-2015 Toastmaster of the Year Award and to join the illustrious ranks of honorees,” says Michelle, CEO of 8ight a Johns Creek based international research and development company.
