Perimeter Academy of the Arts Presents Cinderella

A beautiful young girl, a wicked stepmother, a handsome prince and a fairy Godmother — sounds like suspense, sounds like fun, sounds like Cinderella!

This weekend, in the main auditorium at , your entire family can enjoy the Perimeter Academy of the Arts performance of Cinderella. For two hours (including intermission) you’ll savor the beautiful costumes, music and dance, together telling the timeless story that we all know and love.

Because Cinderella is a story known to most of us, the expressions in dance will be easy for the audience to follow, a dance mom explains. That’s probably one reason that this is the second time, during its five year history, that the Dance Company has chosen to perform this ballet.

Co-director Dorothy Schlitchting explains that "since this is a story that most little girls grew up with it allows them to go from just dancing steps to actually moving into a character. It stretches their dancing ability.”

Not only will you see the girls dance but you get to enjoy dance talent from the Atlanta Ballet. Dancing are Heath Gill (the prince), Phillip Cobb-Smith and Pedro Gamino. Also from the Atlanta Ballet are three instructor/choreographers Maiqui Mañosa, Wei Dongsheng, Armando Luna and also Diane Stapp Pitts, who heads up the costume design. The costuming alone is something you won’t want to miss.

When asked how a relatively  small, local ballet company has the opportunity to work with the likes of the Atlanta Ballet, co- director Becky Brown says, “We are so blessed to live in a city with a world-class ballet company. One contact and opportunity simply leads to another in an art form where people ... enjoy inspiring and motivating the next generation.”
