To those who have already voted during the early voting period, thank you. For those of you who have not yet voted, Tuesday May 20th is your day. Please vote! The Johns Creek City Council races on the ballot are, to my view, the most important on the ballot. Johns Creek City Council directly affects your quality of life and property values by maintaining an environment attractive to residents and businesses through zoning decisions, addressing traffic problems, maintaining your streets, providing you necessary services such as police and fire protection, and providing you with parks to recreate and refresh. These races are on the last pages of the ballot.
By now I am sure you have received plenty of glossy mailers and “robo-calls” from the candidates all making similar promises. To some extent, it is both flattering and frustrating to have my message copied and repeated by all the candidates. It is flattering to have been able to set the agenda to focus on parks and green space, street paving, the zoning process especially as it relates to traffic and quality of life, fiscal responsibility, and advocacy for the community.
Now you must decide who among the candidates has the maturity, knowledge, experience, creative ideas, the time, and the commitment to deliver on their promises. I believe that being successful on city council requires much more effort than attending council meetings twice a month. I hope that you have found through my door-to-door campaign in over 150 neighborhoods, my blog on the Johns Creek Patch, my website, my facebook page, my debate performance, my printed materials, and your previous knowledge of me based on my long record of involvement in the community and last Fall’s campaign, that I am the candidate that will represent everyone, not just a faction, in a fiscally responsible manner, work the hardest, have the most insight, and be the most dedicated to serving the community instead of a personal agenda. I would be honored to have you choose me to be a strong voice for you and the community on City Council.
