Police Blotter: Thefts From Restaurants

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

On Aug. 27 the owner of restaurant on State Bridge Road reported that one of his employees was stealing money from the cash register. The owner stated that the employee perpetrates the thefts by switching the register into training mode and completing a sale. When the register is in training mode, the transaction is not transmitted into the daily sales report, and the employee is able to deduct the amount from the sales. The owner said that the employee completes several sales per day using this method. Police charged the employee with felony theft by taking.

On Aug. 29 a customer at on Medlock Bridge Road stated that he went in the restaurant to purchase food. She then walked to the beverage area and placed her wallet on the counter. When she went to leave the restaurant, she realized that she had left her wallet on the counter. When she went back inside, the wallet was gone. She asked an employee if the wallet had been turned it, and it had not. The employee stated that the area near the register had video surveillance, but was unable to verify if the camera could see the beverage area. He stated the video footage is available for up to 30 days.
