Police Launch Drug Task Force In N. Fulton, Forsyth

The police departments of Johns Creek and Alpharetta are teaming up with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office to target drug dealers.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Three law enforcement agencies have banded together to form an alliance to crack down on drug sales in North Fulton and Forsyth counties. The Johns Creek Police Department, Alpharetta Department of Public Safety and Forsyth County Sheriff's Office announce the formation of the JCAF Drug Task Force.

The mission of this initiative is to turn law enforcement attention to "dealer-level" narcotic investigations. The Task Force is made up of 18 agents who are "committed to combating drug sales in our areas," the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

The JCAF Task Force will also move freely within the three jurisdictions while conducting investigations, the agency added.

Johns Creek Police Chief Ed Densmore said the alliance is a necessary partnership between the departments that "will make investigating, arresting, and ultimately prosecuting these cases in our area a streamlined, effective process."

"This task force is a win for the citizens of all three jurisdictions involved," he said.

Alpharetta Police Chief John Robison added he was grateful for the partnership, as the department is already seeing the benefits of pooling required resources together to stamp out dealers who are bringing these dangerous drugs into the community.

"Ultimately, the JCAF Task Force will help keep all of our communities safe," he added.

JCAF Drug Task Force agents have already made presence known to area drug dealers and have arrested three large scale dealers who were primary suppliers to local high school students, the sheriff's office said.

Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman said the dealers in his county were also the likely culprits operating in Johns Creek and Alpharetta.

"It was imperative that we worked jointly to keep our communities safe," he said. "Together we are stronger than we are alone. Our communities are safer today because of this partnership."
