Registration Opens for Fulton Golden Games

Johns Creek residents age 50 or older are encouraged to participate in this year's Olympic-style activities.

Johns Creek is looking for competitors 50 years old or older to represent the city in the 21st annual Fulton Golden Games.

The Games, an Olympic-style series of events and activities, will be held April 29 – May 21.

Participants compete in track and field events, a tennis tournament, a golf tournament, bocce ball competition, Wii bowling, swimming and more.

Opening ceremonies will be held Wednesday, April 29 at the Alpharetta Community Center at Wills Park. The Golden Games also offer low-impact activities such as billiards, bridge, nature hikes and more.

Several events will be hosted by Park Place at Newtown School, including:

  • Poker Tournament, May 1, 1 p.m., light refreshments included
  • Tailgate Games, May 11, 10 a.m. (includes lawn games, ladder golf, horseshoes and lunch)
  • Autrey Mill Nature Hike, May 12, 10 a.m., lunch included (at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve)
  • Canasta Tournament, May 14, 1 p.m. , light refreshments included

Registration for the Golden Games, sponsored by Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell, Sandy Springs and Fulton County Human Services, costs $15 and includes participation to all the games, a T-shirt, the dance and awards ceremony lunch.

There are additional costs for golf, bowling, and bocce ball tournaments. Those who register by March 24 are entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card.

A luncheon and awards ceremony will be held Thursday, May 21 at the Harriet G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Complex in Atlanta.

The final event will be a health and wellness expo on Wednesday, May 27 at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center, which is at 830 Grimes Bridge Road in Roswell.
