A report compiled by 24/7 Wall St. names Johns Creek as the 10th Best City in America to Live.

Johns Creek is the only city in Georgia to make the list, which was released on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

24/7 Wall St. reviewed data on 550 cities with populations of 65,000 or more and based upon a variety of variables such as crime, education, employment, housing affordability, infrastructure, the company came up with its list.

The top 10 includes:

  1. Newton, Massachusetts
  2. Bellevue, Washington
  3. Mountain View, California
  4. Pleasanton, California
  5. Evanston, Illinois
  6. Irvine, California
  7. Troy, Michigan
  8. Cary, North Carolina
  9. Flower Mound, Texas
  10. Johns Creek, Georgia

The report notes Johns Creek has a median household income of $100,478, an unemployment rate of 6.5 percent recorded in 2013, median home value of $337,900, a violent crime rate of 53.7 per 100,000 residents and 30.3 minutes as an average commuter travel time.

By comparison, the typical American household earned just $51,371 in 2012. In Georgia, that figure was just over $47,000.

“While Johns Creek is one of just a few cities reviewed without a single college, area adults are very well educated,” 24/7 Wall St. states. “Nearly 65 percent had completed at least a bachelor’s degree as of 2012, one of the highest attainment rates nationwide.”

One potential drawback to living in Johns Creek? It’s commute time. The city’s average was just over a half-hour, which is more than in most cities.
