Johns Creek Businessman To Run For Mayor

Alex Marchetti said his three main values are fiscal responsibility, common sense and integrity.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- A Johns Creek businessman is seeking to get involved in the city in a more high profile manner. Alex Marchetti has tossed his hat into the ring to run for the office of mayor.

Marchetti is running for the seat held by Mike Bodker, the city's first and only mayor since its 2006 incorporation.

Living in Johns Creek for nearly two decades has provided Marchetti and his family a "quality of life that's been an essential part of our lives," the candidate said.

Touting his experience in the corporate world, Marchetti notes he's obtained the skills needed to bring a fresh "resident-driven" agenda to city operations.

"My passion is to represent the residents with honest, open communications and accountable leadership," he said. "I believe that we are at an important juncture in the growth and development of our wonderful city and am (sic) prepared to lead the way."

If he's elected, Marchetti said he wants protect the city's greenspace, sustain the strengths of the city's neighborhoods and ensure the mayor and City Council work together to advance the vision of its residents.

Marchetti notes his three main values are integrity, common sense and fiscal responsibility.

"My commitment to you is listening and prioritizing the goals of the residents of Johns Creek first," he added. "The resident’s needs and concerns are the primary responsibility that the mayor must advance."

Marchetti has executive management experience from a number of international and Fortune 100 companies, including Safety Kleen, Union Pacific, Unocal Corporation and Det Norske Veritas. Throughout his career, he has managed critical business areas including strategic planning, budgeting, product development, business analysis, return-on-investments, logistics, business alliances and distributor networks.

Marchetti served as president of the SE Direct Marketing Association, chair of the North American Marketing Council and strategic consultant to the Executive Committee of the International Association Technical Committee for ISO Standards.

He also launched Strategies and Solutions, the Generators Journal trade publication and the DMA E-newsletter. His articles have been featured in Inc. Magazine, Oz Magazine, Environment Today and the Direct Marketing News.

Mr. Marchetti is a graduate of the University of Illinois and received his MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management. He was recently named one of Keller’s Pinnacle Society, the top 40 MBA graduates of the school’s history.

Marchetti lives in the Prestwick subdivision with wife, Robin, and has been a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club for nearly 20 years. The Marchettis attend St. Brigid’s Catholic Church and are avid tennis players.
