Retired Professor To Run For State House Seat

Angelika Kausche is running as a Democrat in the race to fill the House District 50 seat, which covers Johns Creek.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — A retired professor has announced her plans to run for the State House District 50 seat. Angelika Kausche, a Johns Creek resident, said she is running for the seat in light of the "surge of Democratic candidates in Georgia." The seat is currently held by State Rep. Brad Raffensperger, who is running in the Republican primary to become Georgia's next secretary of state.

Kausche said Democrats in the district have been energized since last year's special election to fill the 6th Congressional District, and "we can ride the momentum to an upset win."

"I believe my diverse background in business and education will be a great asset in tackling the issues that are important to all of us like healthcare, education and infrastructure,” she added.

Kausche was an adjunct professor for business communication at colleges in Michigan and North Carolina. She currently serves on the board of her homeowners association and volunteers for various organizations in the greater Atlanta area. The Kausches have two daughters.
