River Trail Middle School Orchestra Plays Carnegie Hall

From Fulton County Schools: The RTMS Orchestra submitted a recording and application to the Carnegie Hall Band and Orchestra Performance Festival in 2012, and were accepted. Later, Performance Festival organizers contacted orchestra teacher Amos Liu, stating they were incredibly impressed with the 2012 performance at Carnegie Hall. “They wanted us to come back to play again, no audition required,” said Mr. Liu.

After juggling school event schedules and Carnegie Hall’s busy performance schedule, a satisfactory date was finally found in 2018, and the students were off to New York City! Entry in the Festival included rehearsals, three nights in a hotel, sightseeing excursions, and a Broadway show. The orchestra students saw Hello Dolly, starring Bernadette Peters and Victor Garber.

• Lullaby by Willam Hofeldt
• IL Re Pastore by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
