The agreement with the city of Duluth, Fulton County and Gwinnett County was approved at the March 28 meeting, and outlines how each entity will proceed with project planning and engineering for a multi-use trail across the Chattahoochee River at Rogers Bridge.
Each of the four government agencies will contribute $25,000 as part of the required $100,000 local match to a $400,000 federal Transportation Alternatives Program grant awarded by the Atlanta Regional Commission. The city's share was included in the fiscal year 2016 budget.

The Rogers Bridge over the Chattahoochee Trail Project is slated to connect Johns Creek's Rogers Bridge Trail to Rogers Bridge Park in Duluth. A 2006 bridge condition study conducted by Duluth was updated in October 2014 to determine what was needed for the existing bridge to be renovated to be used as a bicycle and pedestrian bridge.
The bridge was constructed in the 1900's and is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Johns Creek's Rogers Bridge Trail runs along existing Rogers Bridge Road right of way, which runs down to the Chattahoochee River on the west side of the river.
This trail is adjacent to farmland and single family homes. The Rogers Bridge trail currently connects to a trail along the east side of Bell Road, and is in the city's trail plan to connect to the Shakerag Elementary School and Shakerag Park along Rogers Bridge Circle.
