Secret Gardens Of Johns Creek Draws Hundreds For Inaugural Tour

This first-ever garden tour was a huge hit with area visitors.

The Secret Gardens Tour of Johns Creek was held this past Saturday, May 12th, and by all accounts was a great success! Hundreds came out on a beautiful, (but hot), perfect spring day to tour eight very different and distinctive gardens.

Not only were the visitors treated to pristine gardens, but were also entertained by a wide variety of area musicians, student vocal groups, local artists, and art demonstrations by members of the Johns Creek Arts Center Guild.

In addition, we were so fortunate to have had the talents of the Northview High School Flute Choir, Singchronize - an acapella group from Johns Creek High School along with the quintet Trillium, and the Norcross High School Brass Band, Blue Devil Brass. At Garden #8 there was a honey demonstration by Tribble Farms based in Canton, with a delicious variety to purchase and take home that day. Many enjoyed speaking with Eric Strauss, who was at one of the gardens on the tour. He is the commissioned artist who will be creating the 12'-15' forged iron sculpture which will be installed as a permanent piece of public art in Johns Creek.

As a fundraising effort, this garden tour accomplished its goal of providing a exceptional community event, while raising public awareness for public art. Johns Creek Beautification, sponsor of this tour, is extremely grateful to the homeowners of the eight gardens for their participation in this event. It also took dozens of volunteers to make this a reality. Special thanks go out to the committee members along with the various Master Gardeners, docents, shuttle drivers, set-up and break-down crews, and all those who handled registration. It was truly a labor of love.

The Secret Gardens Tour of Johns Creek may be over, but the work and the excitement will continue year 'round. Time to plan the next one!
