Senior Technology Training Workshop Set For April 14

Student Leadership Johns Creek members and AT&T representatives will be on hand to help senior citizens learn more about their devices.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Members of Student Leadership Johns Creek will join forces with AT&T to provide a free technology workshop for senior citizens this weekend.

The hands-on workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14 at Park Place at Newtown School.

Students will work one-on-one with seniors to help them learn and explore different features on their devices. No previous experience is necessary to participate. You can also bring your own device or use one that will be provided by AT&T.

Last year's workshop was success and included many seniors who had specific questions or wanted to understand their device's basic functions, Student Leadership Johns Creek said.

"It was such a fulfilling experience," said Johns Creek High School student Sarina Parikh. "I was so glad that I was able to teach community members about technology and also learn some valuable life lessons from them."

Seniors and teens will work one-on-one to assist with the complexities of such issues as font size, finding various apps, changing settings to make the devices more user-friendly for a senior, or just to explore how to load a photo album.

Park Place at Newtown School is located at 3125 Old Alabama Road. Residents can RSVP to the workshop by emailing ParkPlace@JohnsCreekGA.gov or calling 678-512-3430.
