Shred Documents, Recycle Cooking Grease Nov. 12 in Johns Creek
The city is partnering with Keep North Fulton Beautiful for its event, which will be held outside Panera Bread on Medlock Bridge Road.
JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Next week, you will be able to safely discard of sensitive documents and cooking oils and grease in a recycling event hosted by the city of Johns Creek.
The city will partner with Panera Bread and Keep North Fulton Beautiful for its free document shredding service and cooking fats, oils and grease recycling initiative.
The event will be held form 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 outside the restaurant on Medlock Bridge Road.

You will also have a chance to dispose of fluorescent bulbs and gently-used clothes and shoes. Cooking fats, oils and grease can clog pipes and cause sewage back-ups in streets and homes. Additionally, fluorescent tubes and curly compact fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, which lingers in the environment for years.
Next week's event is designed to prevent both hazards from occurring.

Keep North Fulton Beautiful has special equipment that destroys the lights and stores the material and gases for recovery later by a certified fluorescent-light recycling firm.
To avoid identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission recommends shredding charge receipts, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks and bank statements, expired charge cards and credit offers.
Documents at the event will be shredded on-site, and all of the paper will be recycled. Donated clothing and shoes will be given to American Kidney Services.
This event is free for residents of the city of Johns Creek; however, there is a fee of up to $5 to recycle fluorescent bulbs for non-residents. This event does not include electronics recycling.
