Hooch Students Among Winners Of Ambassador Competition
Vanisha Kudumuri and Adiva Dutta are Student Leadership Johns Creek members who won the Secretary of State Ambassadors competition.
JOHNS CREEK, GA — Two students from Chattahoochee High School were recognized on April 19 by Georgia Secretary of State Brian P. Kemp for winning the statewide Secretary of State ambassadors competition. Vanisha Kudumuri and Adiva Dutta are members of the Student Leadership Johns Creek team made up of teens who attend Chattahoochee Northview and Johns Creek high schools.
The Secretary of State Student Ambassador Program was created to incentivize civic participation and voter registration among high school students. The nine-member team was recognized by Fulton County, Johns Creek Standard Club and the Johns Creek City Council for their involvement in conducting the first student-led-and-coordinated City Council and Mayoral debate in Georgia.
The students came up with the questions, organized the rules, and moderated and timed the debate all by themselves. Additionally, the group hosted several voter registration drives, participated in over 60 civic meetings, organized over 150 service projects, submitted over 100 videos about the importance of civic participation and voting, and sent four members to serve as pages at the State Capitol.
