Student Leadership Johns Creek Begins Annual Retreat

The two-year SLJC program is managed by an advisory committee under the direction of Leadership Johns Creek.

From SLJC: Student Leadership Johns Creek (SLJC) kicked off their 2018-19 program on Saturday, August 5th . This year we have 96 students representing the four Johns Creek High Schools; Centennial, Chattahoochee, Johns Creek and Northview. The students spent their retreat day at the Isakson Family YMCA.

The students this year will have the option to develop leadership skills by working with “feeder” schools or through a non-profit or community outreach effort. Future sessions will include a day at Georgia’s capitol where they will meet State legislators along with a visit to the Fulton County Government’s center and the Department of Revenue and an unforgettable experience at the Fulton County Jail. “The connection to Johns Creek, and our business and civic leaders is an invaluable experience for these students to have in High School. It can help them with networking for internships, jobs, enhance their college experiences and hopefully, make them want to return to Johns Creek after college,” states Ron Jones, the founder of Leadership Johns Creek, a 501c3.

Shadowing a business or professional person at his/her job to explore career opportunities is the highlight of our second-year student’s leadership training. Moreover, these students will learn the importance of their digital footprint while creating an on-line portfolio that includes a professional resume, LinkedIn presence and training in the development of their personal brand.
