Student Leadership Johns Creek is a collaborative effort of Leadership Johns Creek and the business and civic community to provide leadership training to local youth. The two-year program for emerging student leaders in their sophomore and junior years who attend Centennial, Chattahoochee, Johns Creek or Northview High Schools was founded in 2012. The classes consist of 45-50 young adults being introduced to a core curriculum of leadership skills, including goal setting, project management, team building civic involvement and participation and community skills. The students provide exemplary role models for civic engagement and service learning.
The Proclamation went on to cite the many community service projects, including a senior device training event each year in conjunction with AT&T whereby students train seniors on cell phones, tablets and more, the students complete each year. In addition, the program was recognized for hosting the first-ever mayoral and city council debate in Georgia fully organized by high school students.
“It was a great honor to be recognized by the Georgia House," Executive Director Irene Sanders said in a release. "We believe Student Leadership Johns Creek is a unique and valuable part of our community and this Proclamation certainly further validates our program’s mission.”
Student Leadership Johns Creek is a competitive program that has been a highly-valued part of the community for over seven years. Applications for the next Student Leadership Johns Creek class will be available beginning December 1 at each school’s counselor office or at
