Summer Concert Series Return To Newtown Park

The city of Johns Creek's annual series will start June 24 with a performance by Rupert's Orchestra.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The city of Johns Creek will soon roll out its 2016 summer concert series.

This year's installment will kick off at the Newtown Park Amphitheater on Friday, June 24 with a performance by Rupert's Orchestra, a Georgia band that performs everything from current Top 40 hits to Motown and classic rock to swing. 

Following that performance will be Mother's Finest, who will come to town on Friday, July 22. Mother's Finest has been described as a pioneering American funk rock band whose music is a blend of funky rhythms, heavy rock guitars and expressive soul/R&B-style vocals. Their lively music and engaging performance is sure to entertain attendees of all ages.

Rounding out the series will be The Shadowboxers, who will take the stage on Sept. 24. 

An American pop band that formed in Atlanta, The Shadowboxers' musical approach comes out of a shared reverence for the sacred texts of rock and soul, from the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel to Stevie Wonder and D’Angelo.

Returning to the Amphitheater this year will be food trucks, and beer and wine will be available for purchase. For the June 24 concert, food trucks Cattywampus and King of Pops will be on site. 

For those looking for a little more room, you can purchase round tables for up to ten people. Those can be reserved under the amphitheater by calling 678-512-3200. 

The concerts are free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the two-hour concert starts at 7 p.m. The Amphitheater is located at Newtown Park, which is at 3150 Old Alabama Road in Johns Creek.
