Summer Concert Series Starts Friday in Johns Creek

Georgia-based The Rupert's Orchestra will kick off the 2016 season at the Newtown Park Amphitheater.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- On Friday, the city of Johns Creek will kick off its 2016 Amphitheater Summer Concert Series with The Rupert's Orchestra.

This Georgia-based band, which performs everything from Top 40 hits to Motown to classic rock to swing, will open the season June 24.

The concert will be free, and doors at the amphitheater will open at 6 p.m. The two-hour concert will get underway at 7 p.m.

Food trucks will also return to the venue this year, and beer and wine will also be available for purchase. For Friday's event, the food truck Cattywampus as well as King of Pops will be on site.

The next installment of the 2016 series will be Mother's Finest, an American funk rock band who will bring its unique sounds to audiences on Friday, July 22.

Mother's Finest's music is a blend of funky rhythms, heavy rock guitars and expressive soul/R&B-style vocals. Their lively music and engaging performance is sure to entertain attendees of all ages.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Savannah Jack will come to Johns Creek for the concert season on Saturday, Aug 27.

Closing out the season on Sept. 24 will be The Shadowboxers, an Atlanta-based American pop band. This group's musical approach comes out of a shared reverence for the sacred texts of rock and soul, from the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel to Stevie Wonder and D’Angelo.

The Amphitheater is located at Newtown Park, which is at 3150 Old Alabama Road.
