Symphony to Showcase Strings on Saturday
Concert said to be the Johns Creek Symphony's most challenging to date.
The top string musicians from Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra will take to the Johns Creek High stage Saturday night to thrill audiences will selections from composers as diverse as Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Samuel Barber and Leroy Anderson.
"The concert is an all-strings concert, which is a departure for us," said the symphony's executive director, Sue Haggerty. "We've always had a full orchestra, so this is very exciting."
She added, "It's probably our most challenging repertoire to date, but it's not necessarily heavy and intense."

Haggerty said the audience can expect to hear a selection ranging from "traditional Mozart to the very contemporary to an old-fashioned fiddle reel."
She said the one thing the selections have in common is that they "all require intense manual dexterity."

The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra is comprised of paid professional musicians from all over the Atlanta metro area. It's now in its fourth season and is conducted by Maestro J. Wayne Baughman, music director. Baughman, a fixture on the Atlanta music scene for some 35 years, was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Choruses for 25 years.
The concert is Saturday, 8 p.m., at , 5575 State Bridge Road. Tickets are $28 adults; $22 seniors; $15 students; and discounts for groups of 10 or more.
