Taylor Road Middle Hosts Walk To School Day May 10

The school is partnering with local organizations in Johns Creek to hold the event.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Taylor Road Middle School is teaming up with local organizations in Johns Creek to pilot a Walk to School event on Wednesday, May 10.

Walking to school is healthy for our bodies and our environment. It is also a great way to start your morning and get to know your neighbors.

Finding alternate ways to travel to school is also another way to reduce the number of motorists in and around the schools in the mornings. This event is coordinated with the Fire Up Your Feet Spring Challenge, which encourages students to track their physical activity to earn cash rewards for their school and the National Walk/Bike to School Day.

If you plan to take part in Wednesday's event, be sure you have a safe route to walk to school. Also, pedestrians are reminded to follow the rules of the road, such as only crossing at crosswalks. Additionally, wearing light-colored clothing and appropriate walking shoes will help the trek to school fly by with ease.
