Price’s candidacy comes in the wake of last Friday’s surprising news that House Speaker John Boehner is resigning at the end of October.
According to The Hill, Price got a boost Monday morning when news came out that U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling of Texas is backing Price.

The political blog Peach Pundit says Price looks to be competing with U.S. Reps. Cathy McMorris Rogers from Washington; Louisiana’s Steve Scalise and possibly Jim Jordan from Ohio for the position.
Hensarling is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and, like Price, is seen as a staunch conservative in the GOP.
