Unlicensed Car Dealership Employee Leads Police On High-Speed Chase
Johns Creek police say the man was hired to drive vehicle between two dealerships.
JOHNS CREEK, GA -- A 38-year-old unlicensed man hired to drive vehicles for a car dealership is accused of leading Johns Creek police on high-speed chase.
Arrest warrants for Frederick Matthew Spry of Sugar Hill in connection to the June 16 incident, said agency spokesperson Capt. Chris Byers.
A Johns Creek motorcycle patrol officer was operating a laser speed detection device on State Bridge Road at at Skidaway Drive when a black Mercedes E350 was clocked at traveling 63 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone, according to an incident report released by the agency.

The officer attempted to pull over the driver, but the motorist continued at a high rate of speed. At one point, the vehicle's speed was registered as exceeding 100 miles per hour, the report notes.
"The officer pursued a short distance, and ultimately cancelled the pursuit once speeds got reckless," Byers told Patch.

Byers said the Mercedes was bearing a drive-out tag that read "Test Drive" with a Mitsubishi emblem. Investigators were able to locate the vehicle online at the Roswell Mitsubishi 11170 Alpharetta Highway.
When officers arrived to inquire about the car's possible involvement in a high speed chase, it was determined that "an employee of Roswell Mitsubishi was operating the vehicle when it fled from JCPD," Byers said.
"The employee was paid to drive vehicles between two different car dealerships, even though he did not have a valid driver’s license," he added.
Byers said warrants have been issued for Spry for fleeing and attempting to elude police, reckless driving, speeding and failure to maintain lane. He also said the dealership informed police Spry had a driver's license when he was hired for employment.
