The recent incident with the city manager raises the topic of the use of foul language as part of our behaviors.
As a teacher in our city’s middle and high schools, I know that swearing of any kind by teachers is grounds for immediate dismissal. In seven years as a substitute teacher, I can say that I never heard a teacher swear.
My view is that intentional use of foul language to attack, intimidate, or demean others is reprehensible, and at a minimum should involve an apology and a reprimand.

I believe that our city council members should be speaking up on what they believe the community standards with regards to this type of behavior are or should be.
