Verizon Wireless Seeks To Fill More Than 1,000 Positions

For job seekers in Johns Creek and north Fulton County, securing employment can come down to preparation.

Updated resume? Check. List of references? Got it. Reliable broadband connection, and bunny slippers for luck? Wait …what?!

That may sound far-fetched, but it’s a reality in today’s always-connected world.

Verizon’s first-ever nationwide virtual career fair, which will be held on Thursday, July 23, will allow interested candidates to use technology to connect online and via chat directly with company recruiters – without leaving the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.

Verizon is looking to fill more than 1,000 positions across the country in wireless sales, customer service and tech support during the second half of 2015, including 170 customer service jobs in the Alpharetta area, and 260 retail positions across both Georgia and Alabama.

The Verizon Wireless Virtual Career Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Candidates from anywhere in the U.S. may take part, including students and graduates from more than 100 colleges specifically targeted by Verizon, including Georgia Southern University, Georgia Perimeter College, Albany State University, Atlanta Metropolitan College, Auburn University and University of Alabama.

“In the past, job seekers may have had to travel and prepare to interview for what might be a single opportunity,” said Tracie Lovell, associate director of human resources for Verizon Wireless in the Georgia/Alabama Region. “It seems natural for an innovative company like Verizon to use technology to connect skilled applicants with our recruiters in a convenient, yet impactful, way. We’re confident that we will connect with many outstanding potential employees, who can help us better serve our customers here in the region.”

Taking part in the Verizon Wireless Virtual Career Fair is simple: Before July 23, job seekers should create an account at https://verizon.virtualcareerfairs.com to view available positions and additional details, with the option of gaining access through their LinkedIn account.

Candidates can then upload their resumes to the site and share their credentials, skills and related experience. During the event, candidates will be able to interact via live-chat with Verizon job recruiters who have access to their documents.
