“On behalf of the city and myself personally, I would like to convey heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dusty Segars,” Bodker said. “It sounds from her neighbors and friends like she was a delightful person. I want to thank our firefighters for their quick and brave response. They did all that could be done. It is truly a tragedy.”

The Fulton County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.

No one else was home at the time of the fire. Preliminary investigation has found no signs of foul play, but the specific cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Investigators believe there were no working smoke alarms at the home.

“A properly maintained smoke alarm can be a life-saver,” said Fire Marshal Chad McGiboney. “We encourage everyone to have a smoke alarm and make sure it is in good working order.”
