Volunteers Needed For Annual Homeless Count
The 2017 Point In Time Homeless Count will take place Thursday, Jan. 26.

The Fulton County government is seeking volunteers to participate in next week's Point in Time Homeless Count.
The 2017 PIT will be take place Thursday, Jan. 26, and will be conducted by the Fulton County Continuum of Care.
Volunteers will work closely with county leaders, police and community organizations to gather accurate information about the number of homeless people residing in the cities that make up Fulton County, including Alpharetta, Roswell, Union City, College Park, East Point, Palmetto and Fairburn.

Volunteers assisting with the count will focus on veterans, single women with children, youth, and other unsheltered people who are sleeping in outdoor locations such as sidewalks, parks, encampments and under bridges.
The PIT Count will also include all of the residents who are staying in emergency shelters and transitional housing programs. The Homeless Count is crucial for tracking the success of local efforts to end homelessness in North and South Fulton County and is essential for planning future efforts to end homelessness.

Volunteers will help identify vulnerable groups by conducting surveys that provide demographic characteristics, homeless history, homeless experiences and other vital information.
The count of people sleeping on the streets will be conducted between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. Volunteers should report to the following locations by 8 p.m.:
North Fulton Site
North Fulton Community Charities
11270 Elkins Road
Roswell, GA 30076
South Fulton Site
Zion Hill CDC
2741 Bayard Street
East Point, GA 30344
Volunteers are needed for the following positions:
- Drivers – North Fulton and South Fulton
- Supply Distributers – North Fulton and South Fulton
- Surveyors – North Fulton and South Fulton
