Volunteers Needed for Johns Creek Community Service Projects

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Organizers behind Leadership Johns Creek's Hero4aDay initiative are asking the public to consider coming out and giving back to their community.

The community day of service has several projects in need of volunteers, including helping with an upcoming document shredding event, a path repair and beautification project at the Northeast/Spruill Oaks Public Library and painting the fence at the Newtown Park community garden.
At the library, the walking path through the Friends of the Library outdoor area needs to be pulled up, leveled then replaced. Volunteers need to bring their own tools and gloves, as organizers need assistance pulling up existing stones, putting in a border, leveling the area, replacing the stones and spreading pebble rock/slate between and around the stones.

During the document shredding and recycling event, volunteers are needed to help with facilitating traffic, unloading items from cars, breaking down cardboard collected at the event, accepting donations and handing out promotional and educational materials.
Volunteer dates and time will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7. The document shredding will take place at Panera Bread at 11715 Medlock Bridge Road.
