Crews Repair Water Main Break In Johns Creek (UPDATE)

The break occurred Wednesday afternoon when a utility contractor struck an 8-inch main on Buice Road.

Johns Creek, GA -- Crews with Fulton County’s Department of Water Resources have repaired an 8-inch water main break that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Johns Creek.

The main was damaged when a utility contractor accidentally hit an unmarked water main while boring under Buice Road, the city said.

Fulton County Water Department and Johns Creek Public Works officials responded to the scene and assessed the damage.

The break also caused a disruption in water service to residents in several subdivisions, including Doublegate, Farmbrook, Fox Creek, Kingston Crossing, Lakeview Estates, Linkwood and Spring Garden.

The city of Johns Creek states on its Facebook page that Fulton County crews expect to have water restored by 9 p.m. Wednesday to all affected citizens. They also hope to have a “rough repair” completed on Buice Road by midnight.

Buice Road was closed from Twingate Drive to Clublands Drive-Greenwich Park Drive due to the repairs.

Both lanes will be open, but traffic interruptions will occur during permanent road repairs on Thursday, Feb. 11, and Friday, Feb. 12.

The Water Resources Division states “there is no need to boil water or take any extra safety measures,” the city added.
