Weinermobile Returns To Johns Creek For Founders Day Parade

The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will make its fourth appearance Dec. 6 in the parade celebrating the city's 2006 incorporation.

Residents, businesses and organizations have just one more week to sign up for the eight annual Johns Creek Founders Day Parade.

The deadline for submitting applications for floats and other entries is Thursday, Nov. 13. The parade will take place on Dec. 6.

Once again, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is set to return to the parade next month.

The 27-foot-long, 3-ton vehicle shaped like a frankfurter in a bun will make its fourth appearance in the parade celebrating the launch of the city of Johns Creek in 2006.

The Wienermobile was first introduced in 1936. The latest version has a GPS system, an audio center with a wireless microphone and a horn that plays the Oscar Mayer jingle in 21 different styles. There are six Wienermobiles, each covering a specific region of the country.

Other popular parade attractions this year include the Seed and Feed Marching Abominable, the Patriot Brass band, the Atholl Highlanders, Heavy Hitters Drumline and Homer the Brave.

The parade theme this year is “We Are Johns Creek.”

Additionally, residents should remember that when you build your float, that there’s only one Santa, and he rides in a fire truck at the end of the parade.
