“It’s been a really exciting first season,” said Recreation Manager Kirk Franz. “People obviously enjoy having an open-air venue for live music so we decided to add another concert. We chose Yacht Rock Schooner because we want to offer a variety of music, and Yacht Rock Schooner is known for their smooth sounds from the 70s and 80s.”

The eight-man band is composed of some of Atlanta’s top players with a dual keyboard setup, multiple ace vocalists and a sax player. Their repertoire includes Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald.

The pine and stacked-stone Amphitheater opened June 28 with a performance by the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, which was followed in July by A1A, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band and Shane O’Dazier on Aug. 23.

The Amphitheater opens at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. There is no reserved seating, and tickets are not required for the music series.

People are welcome to bring blankets and folding chairs. Coolers of food and drinks are permitted, but no alcohol is allowed. Food truck vendors sell food and drinks, including beer and wine.

The Amphitheater seats about 400 people under cover and an estimated 1,500 on its terraced lawn.
