Awtrey Middle School Principal Presented "Outstanding Principal Award"

Awtrey Middle School Prinicipal, Jeff Crawford, is presented "Outstanding Principal Award" for 2014.

When the Awtrey PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) recently requested parent feedback to contribute to the nomination form for “Outstanding Principal Award”, hundreds of encouraging comments poured in from parents of Awtrey Middle School students in support of the nomination of their school principal, Mr. Jeffrey Crawford. One parent volunteer stated, “Mr. Crawford is very personable and friendly with parents and encourages them to get involved with the PTSA. He feels that parental involvement is fundamental in having a successful school.” Another added, “His willingness to push up his own sleeves and lend a hand sets a wonderful example to the PTSA team. We are all very clear we have his support to do what we feel can make a positive impact for the students.”

So it was really no surprise to parents when Lori Sweet, President, Tom Mathis, Sr. Council of PTAs, presented Mr. Crawford with the 2014 Outstanding Principal Award during a lovely celebration luncheon (see attached photo). The biggest surprise came when, after the award ceremony, Mr. Crawford returned to the school to find a lobby full of students, teachers, staff, and even several talented band students (on drums) welcome him back with celebratory cheers!

The Awtrey PTSA wishes to recognize Mr. Crawford for his dedication to our school and community with this shout out, “We appreciate you Mr. Crawford and recognize you have put together a great team of teachers and staff to lead and guide our children through their (sometimes tumultuous) middle school years. Together, you are an outstanding team of educators, leaders, and role models for the next generation! Keep up the good work! Sincerely, Your Awtrey Family”
