Beech-Nut Baby Food Recalled Due to Possible Contamination
The sweet potato and chicken food affected by the recall may have small pieces of glass in it, according to the USDA.

Beech-Nut is recalling nearly one ton of baby food after receiving a complaint that a small piece of glass was found inside a food jar, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday.

According to the recall notice, 4 oz. jars of “Stage 2 Beech-Nut CLASSICS sweet potato & chicken” which were manufactured on Dec. 12, 2014, are subject to the recall, The affected product can be identified by a December, 2016 expiration date, a “P-68A” code inside the USDA inspection mark, and product numbers 12395750815 through 12395750821. The potentially contaminated jars were sold in stores across the country.
The USDA said that Beech-Nut had received one report of an oral injury caused by consuming the potentially contaminated product.

“We have no indication that any other jar of our Classics Stage 2 Sweet Potato & Chicken is affected, but as a company of parents and families we are acting with an abundance of caution,” said Jeff Boutelle, president of Beech-Nut, in a statement. “The quality and safety of our products is our number one priority. We know that our high quality expectations were not met in this situation, and we apologize to our loyal consumers.”
Consumers who have purchased the product in question are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone with further questions about the recall can contact the Beech-Nut Consumer Hotline at (866) 674-4446.
