Bobbie Bailey Foundation Endows KSU’s School of Music

I am pleased to share with you news about another truly transformational gift, this
time for KSU's School of Music.

The Bobbie Bailey Foundation has gifted $5 million to the School, which includes $4
million to advance the Dr. Bobbie Bailey Endowed Music Scholarship and $1 million
to establish the Dr. Bobbie Bailey Endowed Honors Music Scholarship, which will receive
matching funds through an earlier gift to KSU Journey Honors College from John and
Rosemary Brown.

Today, in recognition of this gift coupled with past philanthropic support from Dr.
Bobbie Bailey, Dr. Audrey Morgan and the Bailey Foundation, the Board of Regents of
the University System of Georgia approved KSU's request to name the School of Music,
the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music.

Dr. Bailey's generous support and passion for KSU should not come as a surprise as
her life and career epitomize the entrepreneurial spirit that defines Owl Nation.
Born in Alabama and raised in Georgia, she began her career by tuning race cars when
she was 12 years old. During World War II, she worked for a company that refabricated
refrigeration compressors, which led to the start of her own company, which she built
into a $45 million-a-year enterprise before she sold it to Carrier Corp. in 2001.

Dr. Bobbie Bailey and the Bailey Foundation’s long history of support for Kennesaw
State University includes more than 22 donations since 1993, including the donation
of 27 Steinway pianos, designating the School of Music an All-Steinway School; a $1
million endowment that established the Dr. Bobbie Bailey Nursing Scholarship; and
a previous gift to the nursing program from Dr. Bailey’s sister Dr. Audrey Morgan
to establish the Audrey Morgan Nursing Scholarship.

The Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music is the latest addition to her and her family's
legacy here at KSU. Other entities include the Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance
Center, the Dr. Bobbie Bailey Athletics Complex and Bailey Park, and the Audrey and
Jack Morgan Concert Hall, which honors Dr. Bailey's sister and brother-in-law.

Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the School houses more
than 300 music majors and minors. Student ensembles are regularly featured at prestigious
conferences throughout the country. Especially notable are the faculty, many of whom
are represented on the rosters of the region's top-performing arts organizations,
including many in principal and leadership positions with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
and The Atlanta Opera.

We are truly grateful to Dr. Bobbie Bailey, the Bobbie Bailey Foundation, and Dr.
Audrey Morgan for their continued belief in and support of KSU. The School of Music
is a vital component of our campus and the Atlanta community, and the naming of the
Bailey School of Music recognizes the excellence that defines the College of the Arts
at KSU.
