Eagle Bowl Goes to Mount Paran for Fourth Year
The Kennesaw cross-town rivalry between these private schools wasn't close tonight.
The Eagle Bowl between the and the had the same outcome tonight as in the previous three meetings -- Mount Paran won big 41-9.
Mount Paran (1-0) hosted the game and never let up during the first half, which ended with a score of 28-0. The North Cobb Christian (1-0) defense just couldn't contain their opponent's offense and tried to figure out why. NCCS defensive coordinator Jason Roquemore had his hands full and tried to keep his players upbeat going into the halftime break.
On the other side of the field, the Mt. Paran defense totally shut down thanks to a one-on-one defense strategy by MPCS head coach Mitch Jordan.

"We had Brian Sheffield play him man-to-man and he contained him pretty well," said Jordan. Harris, who had five touchdowns for North Cobb Christian a week ago against Mount Zion-Carroll, couldn't get into the end zone this week.
A bright spot on the evening for NCCS was freshman Carson Masters (#15), who intercepted a Mt. Paran pass for a touchdown in the third quarter and then came back and recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter. The NCCS Eagles, led by head coach Harry Miles, also forced a safety on their Eagle counterparts.

"Our defense played well, especially our secondary," said Mt. Paran's Coach Jordan. "Their Coach Luck (Terry Luck, NCCS offensive coordinator) does a good job over there and put pressure on us in the second half. We have to handle that better."
Mt. Paran travels to Haralson County next week to play a very good AAA playoff team. "The next three weeks will be tough," said Jordan. NCCS will play Fellowship Christian at home next week.
