The 2011 football season is finally here. There have been a few games throughout the area, but tonight is the night where most of the football teams kick off.
Here's what's on the slate for schools in the Kennesaw Patch:
Kennesaw Mountain (0-0) at Allatoona (0-0)—A young program that appears to be on the rise hosts another young program that has yet to find its footing. Allatoona made the playoffs in just its second full season of football a season ago, while stumbled to a 1-9 record and is still looking for its first state playoff appearance in 11 seasons. Allatoona won this matchup a year ago by the score of 24-22.

Alpharetta (0-0) at North Cobb (0-0)—Alpharetta blitzed 42-19 in this season opening matchup a year ago. The Warriors will have to come up with a way to defend Alpharetta’s highly touted junior receiver Carlos Burse if they want to avoid a similar result.
Harrison (0-0) at West Forsyth (0-0)— went 5-5 in the regular season and slipped into the playoffs last year, despite a season-opening 13-0 loss to West Forsyth. The Hoyas will look to get their season off to a better start against a West Forsyth team that lost a majority of its 2010 starters to graduation.

Mount Zion (Carrollton) (0-0) at North Cobb Christian (0-0)— went 2-8 last year, but one of those wins came in the season opener against Mount Zion, 26-8. North Cobb is in its fourth season of varsity football, but it is not playing a full region schedule and is not eligible for a state playoff berth.
