Homemade Strawberry Lemonade

The final chapter of our three-part Memorial Day series.

Nothing tops off a Memorial Day party like lemonade. However, your guests aren’t going to be blown away by lemons, water and sugar. Strawberries add a great twist to everyday lemonade providing a sweet flavor that screams summer. Add a twist of lime, and maybe a little vodka, and you have a refreshing beverage that is sure to please all party-goers this weekend.

8 cups water

Juice from about 10 strawberries, around ¼ cup

Lime wedges

Process

Combine all ingredients but the lime in a pitcher. Stir thoroughly with a whisk. Refrigerate or serve on ice. When the beverage is ready to serve, squeeze a lime wedge into the glass.

Taste Test

There was a pleasant lack of tartness to the lemonade, and it wasn’t overly sweet. The strawberries add a subtle twist that was more than welcome on my palate. When vodka was added, it made a perfect cocktail for those who desire one.

Leftover Quality

The strawberry lemonade didn’t alter one iota overnight. Enjoy, and have a happy Memorial Day!
